A family tradition

Backstage is a family-owned winery in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District, founded by winemaker Angelo Pera in 2010. Nestled on the valley floor and surrounded by vines, the winery is a serene, sun-soaked retreat with the look and feel of a Tuscan villa, a nod to Angelo’s Italian roots and the property's storied past.

Angelo’s winemaking journey began over 30 years ago, when he bottled his first vintage in a garage, the start of a pursuit rooted in patience, precision and a deep respect for craft. Carrying forward a family tradition of creating drinks meant to be savored and shared, he has spent decades honing his approach. Today, Angelo continues to make each wine by hand, working alongside his family.

Backstage specializes in single-vineyard wines, crafted by hand in small lots. Most vineyard plots are just 1 to 2 acres, allowing each wine to reflect the unique character of its site. While the estate includes 50 acres of grapes, Angelo also works with trusted growers across Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon is the cornerstone, with multiple bottlings each year from different vineyard sources: elegant, age-worthy and distinct in personality.
